As part of the story “Tier 4: What you need to know,” published in the January 2015 issue of LM, here we shed light on the nonroad diesel equipment most heavily affected by the Tier 4 standards, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Transportation and Air Quality (EPA, OTAQ).
Under the Tier 4 standards, EPA groups nonroad diesel equipment into five power ranges—0-25 hp, 25-75 hp, 75-175 hp, 175-750 hp and more than 750 hp—and seven industries—agriculture, construction, general industry, lawn and garden, pumps and compressors, material handling and welders and generators. Here, we list the top 10 selling nonroad diesel equipment in 2000, leading up to when Tier 4 standards were applied. (Please note equipment in the more than 750 hp power range is not included here, as it’s not as applicable to the landscaping industry.)
